‘Twas You
At last you make your way
Along the dusty street
Mincing as you go
For the sand burns your feet
I call out from the doorway
Sir I am here
Slowly you approach
As though you are in fear
Of what I ask?
This frail young night whore?
Sir come in quickly and let us close the door
My bed is perfumed
With myrrh spice and treasure
Five golden shekels
Will purchase hours of pleasure
So at long last you are sated
Your head upon my breast
Sleep on sir I say to you
For you are in need of rest
As morning dawns
And first light comes into view
I bid you waken
And make haste
Before someone catches you
Wrap thy robes around thee
And hide thy face from sin
For you knew I was a whore
From the moment you came in
Later you will point a finger
And cast the first stone
As though you are innocent
And the sin is mine alone
All of heaven has recorded
The deed between you and I
The sin we shared together
For which, I, must die
You will witness judgment day
Evil great and small
And find the sin of deception
Is the greatest of them all

My Little Garden Friends
Sit very still in your garden
On a warm summer’s day
Close your eyes, and you will spy
Deva’s coming out to play
They will glide through the Marigolds
Dash among the Roses
Achoo, achoo, some will sneeze
And wipe their tiny noses
Leave them all a pebble
Or a dainty china tea cup
For them to quaff fairy dew
And drink it all up
Scatter flowers petals
In the path along their way
And if you are lucky
They’ll be back again someday
