A LITTLE ABOUT MY WRITING
As a child, storytelling came easy to Shanice, particularly if there was a chance
she might keep herself from getting into trouble.
She usually came up with something quick, since she had a very vivid imagination.
Her family, as well as her neighbors and friends, said they knew she might write one day,
because her stories had always piqued their interest and amazed them.
Yet, it wasn't until she was in her 30s that she finally decided to write down some of the stories she had been carrying around in her mind for many years.
Once she started writing she couldn't stop, and her poetry took as much importance as her stories.
She wrote poems for her friends to give to their friends and loved ones, and she became more and more serious about her writing.
Now at 57, she is finally seeking to get published.
She has published a poem or two, but her novels have yet to be published.
Her first story, "Beyond the Rock," Chronicles many of her experiences with her own two boys,
Bob and Raymond, when they lived at home (they are now both grown with families of their own).
Although she drew from their personalities, she also drew from their friend, Lorene's personality,
because she considered him her third son and the three boys were inseparable.
She also drew on the antics of her daughter, but she is in her children's books.
Her daughter's personality is in the book Escape, and her personality shows up in Shanice's children's books as well.
She too is now grown with children of her own.*To be continued...*
